Basic Fire Skills Workshop

August 23rd 2026 - 12pm until 6pm - Nottingham During this 6hr one day workshop we will show you how to safely dip, light, and dowse your fire props and create a safe performance space for you and your audience. You will also learn the techniques for contact skills such as body burns and traces, and of course - fire eating! We also factor in some flow time for you to have a play getting to grips with the skills you have just learned If you are interested in getting into fire performance, or even if you've always just wanted to 'have a go' - this is the perfect entry level workshop to Fire Performance. This workshop has been designed with complete beginners in mind to teach the fundamental skills of successful and safe fire performing. This workshop would also suit newer or returning fire performers who may want to refresh their safety knowledge and foundation skills. Our 6 hour workshop will include; * Safety First - This will include fire theory explanations, fuels and real life situations you could encounter and how to ensure the safety of you and your audience when performing. * Hair, Costume and Staging - We will show you how to safely lay out a performance space and how to make informed choices when it comes to hair and costume choices. * Practical Skills - We will guide you on interacting with fire, a few beginner tricks, contact skills and (if you’re feeling it!) eating fire. * Attendees will also receive a welcome pack containing a pamphlet with all the information taught on the day, a certificate of participation and a few other little surprises inside All fuels and props will be provided on the day. All you will need to bring is yourselves, a water bottle, a camping chair if you have one and a snack for when we take a break. All you have to do now is click the button to book!
